Buzzer Beating Victory

Buzzer Beating Victory

Your CCBC Dundalk Lions are now 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference after defeating the nationally ranked #20 Chesapeake College Skipjacks 62-60 on a buzzer beater Wednesday night.

The Lions scored the first points of the game after Alex Kadji kicked out from under the basket to Jordan Randolph for the three. The Lions got a stop and then Randolph found a cutting Alex Obase for an easy bucket. The Skipjacks made a three of their own, then down came Randolph, driving left and drawing the help defender over. Randolph works out of the double to bank off the glass and forces the Skipjacks to call a timeout while the Lions lead 7-3 early. The Randolph show continued until the 13 minute mark where he had 12 of the teams 16 points and assisted the other two baskets.

The Lions would eventually stretch out to a 10 point lead, 23-13 but the pendulum would swing back in Chesapeake's favor as they would go on a 20-9 run to close out the half up on the Lions 33-31.

The Lions came out of halftime and took the lead back in no time, scoring their first two attempts. There were 11 lead changes/ ties up until just under 6 minutes remaining in the game when the Lions were able to go up by two scores. The Skipjacks would draw a three point foul with 39.9 seconds remaining down three. Making the first and the last, the skipjacks were now down 1, 58-57. Victor Ezeh draws the foul on the ensuing possession, makes both free throws and the Lions now lead 60-57 with 20 seconds remaining.

Chesapeake would tie the game up with a wide open corner three. Lions advance the ball and call timeout. What was 9.7 seconds remaining is now 4.6 coming out of the timeout.

Tyler Baldwin inbounds to Ezeh at the top of the key, drives left, pulls up fading away and swishes it home with 0.01 seconds remaining on the clock as the Lions come away victorious.
