Lions outlast the Thunder Wolves

Your CCBC Dundalk Lions defeated the SUNY Niagara Thunder Wolves 67-59 on Sunday. A rough trip to Maryland for the Thunder Wolves as they lost to CCBC Catonsville 80-76 on Saturday.

 

The only lead for the Thunder Wolves came from the first make of the game. Jordan Randolph got out to a hot start scoring 6 of the Lions first 8 points to give them an 8-2 lead. Niagara answered, tying the game at 8-8. Randolph would drain a three and assist a layup by Richard Hall that gave Dundalk a 13-8 lead. This was the start of a 13-7 run which would catapult the Lions out to a 26-15 lead that would hold until halftime at 37-27. Randolph and Nas'Zaire Simmons both led the Lions with 11 points at halftime.

 

The second half was a spectacle. The Lions had a 9 point lead, 43-34, with 15 minutes remaining in the contest thanks to a Tyler Baldwin layup. The Thunder Wolves would cut into the lead making it a 44-41 game. Free throws helped the Lions because the next basket after the Baldwin lay was not scored until under 10 minutes remained by Victor Ezeh, 51-42 Lions up. The Thunder Wolves were not done as they chipped into the Lions lead once again. With 8 minutes to go a three ball made it 53-51. The Lions defense held strong as they only allowed one basket the rest of the game and no points at all for the final 3 minutes, for what was a 60-59 game finished 67-59 as the Lions are now 4-2.

 

Victor Ezeh led the Lions with 16 points while grabbing 5 boards, 3 steals, 2 assists and a block

Jordan Randolph was the joint leading scorer with 16 points with 2 steals and an assists

Nas'Zaire Simmons had 11 points and was the leader in rebounds and assists with 8 and 5

 

The Lions next game will be on the road at Delaware Technical Community College on Wednesday, November 16th with tipoff scheduled for 6:00pm
