AACC recap

The Lions back to back games Tuesday and Wednesday night to Raritan Valley Community College 87-86 and Anne Arundel Community College 85-79. The Lions will look to right the ship this weekend against Community College of Beaver County. 

The Lions turned the ball over after winning the tip-off giving the Riverhawks the early 2-0 lead but the Lions came right back and scored six straight points but then gave up 4 easy points forcing coach Taylor to call a timeout to wake his players up. The Lions scored 6 straight points out of the timeout to go up 12-6. The Riverhawks would take a 14-12 lead off an 8-0 run. The Lions would jump out to a 7 point lead 23-16 off of a Murray Grant 3 with 8 minutes left in the half. A little 5-0 run would take away the lead the Lions were trying to establish and eventually tie the game at 28-28 with 5:14 to go in the half. Neither team could pull away as we ended the half with a score of 36-36.

The Riverhawks came out of halftime strong scoring six straight points but the Lions answered with 6 straight points of their own, timeout AACC with 16:48 left in the game tied at 42. The game was tied again at 49 after Grant would make 3 free throws but the Riverhawks would score 10 unanswered points in a minute and a half giving them a 59-49 lead with 12 minutes left in the game. The Lions would claw back to be down 62-61 with 7 minutes left in the game but AACC would go on an 11-0 run to go up 73-61 with 3:30 left in the game. The Lions would try to pull off a comeback but ran out of time in the 85-79 loss.

Naasir Johnson led the team with 27 points. Murray Grant had 15 points and led the Lions with 9 rebounds. Jordan Foster had 11 points shooting 5-7.
