Lions slip to 6-5
Your CCBC Dundalk Lions are now 6-5 on the season after losing to Monroe Community College 86-72 at the Cecil College Holiday Mixer. The Lions are 5-0 at home but 1-3 away and 0-2 when playing on a neutral court.
The Tribunes might have scored first but the Lions scored 10 straight points and a timeout was taken by Monroe, Lions lead 10-2. The Lions would have the largest lead of the game when they were up 16-4 with 15 minutes left to play. The Lions would stay around that 12 point difference and with a little under 6 minutes to go in the half the Lions were up 31-19. After the layup the Tribunes responded with a three. They would force a steal and bang another three. The Lions would turn the ball over again but this time it was a breakaway layup where the player was fouled and converted the and one opportunity. The Lions gave up 9 points in 41 seconds and the Tribunes were back in this ball game, 31-28. Both teams battled back and forth but the difference stayed the same as we went into halftime up four 43-39.
Monroe came out of half time ready to play going on an 11-3 run before the Lions called a timeout with Monroe now in the lead 50-46. The Lions came out of the timeout scoring 6 straight points to take the lead back 52-50.The game was tied at 55 before the Tribunes made a three to go up 58-55 and Monroe took a timeout with 10:45 left to play. After the timeout the Lions scored the first bucket but would not score from the field again until 6:30 when Anontio Jenkins made a layup but the Lions were now down 70-60. The Tribunes kept this lead and cruised to victory as the Lions lost 86-72. The Lions were 17-22 from three but 25-75 from the field.
