Dundalk Drop Both Games To Essex

Dundalk Drop Both Games To Essex

The Lions lost both games of the Region 20 doubleheader to the CCBC Essex Knights 10-0 and 12-2. They are now 2-11 on the year and 0-7 in the conference.

Game One: Knights 10 - Lions 0 (5 inn.)

This one started off as a pitchers duel with Drew Neff toeing the rubber. Retiring the side in the first. After giving up a lead off single in the top of the second Neff came back and retired the next three batters. A sac fly in the third scored the first run of the day. In the top of the fourth a  ground ball with runners on second and third scored the second run for the knights but Neff was able to limit it to that.

Game Two: Knights 12 - Lions 2 (5 inn.)

Again the Lions were fighting as Parker Harris was able to get out of a bases loaded jam in the 1st without giving up any runs. P Harris then retired the side in order in the top of the second. In the bottom of the second the Lions almost scored the first run of the game off of a Xavier Felix single but Carter Bowen was out at the plate. In the top of the third the Knights got on the board with 3 runs. The Lions were able to answer with 2 runs of their own from a Ryan Kennedy double and a Cameron Cooke single.

Across the two games

Cameron Cooke - 2 for 4 with a RBI

Xavier Felix - 1 for 1 with a SB

Ryan Kennedy - 1 for 4 with a 2B, RBI

Brody Cassedy - 1 for 3 with a 2B, BB, R, SAC
