Lakers Prove Too Much for Lions

by Tyriq D. Smith

The CCBC Dundalk Lions faced a tough defeat on Saturday in a doubleheader against the Garrett College Lakers. The first game was a hard-fought battle early on, with both teams exchanging runs. The Lions held their own until the fourth inning, when the Lakers erupted for a huge 8-run inning, opening up a commanding 11-1 lead. However, the Lions didn't back down. They responded with a strong rally of their own, putting up 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the deficit. Despite their best efforts, the Lions couldn't fully recover and ultimately fell 13-6. A standout performance came from Coreem Wright, who drove in 4 RBIs and scored 2 runs, showing resilience and leadership even in the loss.

In the second game, the Lakers came out of the gate swinging. They dominated early, putting up 11 runs over the first two innings, putting the Lions in a hole they couldn't climb out of. The Lions struggled to find their rhythm and couldn't capitalize on any opportunities, ultimately losing 13-3 in 5 innings. This tough defeat brings the Lions' record to 3-17 for the season.

Despite the losses, there were moments of promise, especially in game one when the Lions managed to respond with their own offensive surge. However, the inability to overcome the early deficits in both games proved to be a major hurdle.
