Catonsville, MD - Three in a row! The CCBC Dundalk Lions (6-9) brought in the new year with their third win in a row, Friday January 4, against their intra-campus rivals, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals (3-12).
The first half of action saw a back and forth defensive matchup between the Lions and Cardinals. Both teams created several turnovers and had double-digit defensive rebounds throughout the first 20 minutes of the game. With the Lions and Cardinals both making 14 shots from the field, the only difference in the score at the half was the two extra 3-pointers made by the Cardinals, leading 39-33 at the break.
The second half was similar to the first half. The Lions and Cardinals played a hard, defensive game, allowing the Lions to claw their way back and tie the game at the end of regulation 63-63, forcing overtime.
Keeping the momentum from the second half, the Lions outscored the Cardinals 7-1 in OT, taking home their third win in a row with a final score of 70-64.
Daniel Byrd (Milford Mill) lead the Lions in scoring, coming off the bench, with 22 points. Tyshaun Walker (Bladensberg) followed Byrd with a strong performance producing 21 points. Walker also led the Lions in rebounds with 12.
The Lions return to action Wednesday January 9 at home against the Cecil College Seahawks. Tipoff at 7pm.
