Men's Basketball: Wrapping Up the Season on the 'Tree of Woe'

DUNDALK, MD – CCBC Dundalk Lions Men's Basketball went winless for the month of February, finishing the season 5-22 (3-11 Maryland JUCO). They came into the month 5-17 (3-10 Maryland JUCO), swapping wins and losses throughout late January after an 11-game skid.

Prince George's Community College (Largo, Md.) hosted the Lions on February 2. Despite a 16-point lead at the half, the Lions came up short 72-65. Richard Hibbert (Patterson) and Nicolas Parrish (Dundalk) were the Lions' high-scorers with 19 and 16 respectively. Shiloh Beale scored 18 for the Owls.

The road trip continued as the Lions traveled to Northern Virginia Community College (Annandale, Va.) on February 6. The Lions could not maintain the momentum of a one point lead at the half, losing to the Nighthawks 70-62. Parrish and Hibbert were, for the second straight game, high-scorers for the Lions with 14 and 13 respectively. Muhammed Saadeldeen scored 26 points for the Nighthawks and Tavaris James double-doubled.

The Lions traveled to Manor College (Jenkintown, Pa.) for their third on-the-road game in 11 days. It might have been the day before Valentine's Day, but the Blue Jays did not show a whole lotta love, besting the Lions 91-63. Hibbert again high-scored for the Lions with 15, and Tyrese McNair (Owings Mills) and Christopher Fitzgerald (New Town) shot for 13 each. Isiah Wiggins scored 23 as Amir Hill, Dana Strothers, and Keithantonio Davis all double-doubled for the Blue Jays.

The on-the-road woes continued on February 24 as the Lions traveled to Potomac State College of WVU (Keyser, W.Va.). Despite a double-double by Harvey Paige (W.E.B. DuBois) and only a five-point deficit at the half, the Lions fell to PotState 88-62. Paige and Parrish were high-scorers for the Lions with 11 each.

A home game against Mt. Zion Prep (Baltimore, Md.) on February 27 wrapped up the month and the season for the Lions. With a 6'9" forward, two 6'10' forwards, and a 7'3" center, the Warriors topped the Lions 97-68. Paige once again double-doubled, and, along with Lamarr Mitchell (Baltimore City College), high-scored for the Lions with 15 each.

February 27 was also "Sophomore Night." The Lions congratulated, recognized, and celebrated our graduating sophomores, Lamar Estep (Mergenthaler), Devin Mosley (Kenwood), Mitchell, and Paige. The CCBC Dundalk Lions athletics staff wishes them the best in their new career and educational paths. "You are CCBC."
